New Madonna bio: ‘Like an Icon’
By M&C News Nov 14, 2007, 15:44 GMT

There is a new Madonna bio hitting the shelves called Madonna: Like an Icon. Written by Lucy O’Brien, the book is what USA Today is calling, “meticulously chronicled, the history buttressed and illuminated by quotes from friends, family and associates.”
Yet the reviewer then goes on to state, “But it all seems too familiar: the Michigan cheerleader and dance student who through sheer blonde ambition becomes the biggest female star of the '80s and then constantly reinvents herself to maintain her star status well beyond the average career life span.”
Booklist has said, “Nonfans may avoid the book, but ardent followers who have either forgotten or sublimated, say, Desperately Seeking Susan will boost circulation at virtually any library. For kicking back and remembering when Madonna was cutting-edge, and not just in the worlds of kabbalah and kiddie lit, this is the ticket.”
Harper Collins is the publisher. Click here to read a full review.

Madonna has earned her iconic stature for being so open to her fans and the media. She never falters expressing herself and one thing that differs her from the rest is her sincerity and credibility. She stays focused and continues to set relevant trends like the $120-million Live Nation deal that rocks the music industry. Although her life is practically an open book, fans and non-fans alike are always thirsting to revisit Madonna's intriguing past because her life is a living inspiration for many who are still closeted in their fears. Like an Icon is definitely something worth reading especially if close friends have contributed their inputs about this celebrity genius.
