Harry Potter: most re-read book in Britain

By M&C News Nov 10, 2007, 12:13 GMT

Reuters reports that Harry Potter is the most re-read book in Britain, according to a survey.

The article did not mention any particular Harry Potter book, just that readers are likely to re-read any number of books in the series, or even the whole series.

Other books the survey said they read were those written by Tolkien—where The Lord of the Rings falls in at number 2 and The Hobbit at number 4.

Other books included Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice as well as The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

The DaVinci Code fell in at number 7, which is somewhat surprising, given the simplistic writing style and spoon-fed plot that critics have noted. Once you’ve read it, there’s simply nothing left to digest afterwards.

Yet it was refreshing to see a number of classics listed, like Heller’s Catch 22 and Orwell’s 1984.
