Pattie Boyd looks back on life as musicians’ wife

One could easily label her their ‘muse’ but Pattie Boyd was married not only to Beatle George Harrison, but also to Eric Clapton.

In her new memoir titled Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me, the book is certainly stirring up opinions on Amazon, where fans have given it mixed reviews. Songs by both men were inspired by Boyd, most famously Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight”. "With Eric — he was fun to play with. He seemed to have no limits, and I thought that was incredibly freeing, because I suppose in my upbringing there had always been boundaries. Here was somebody with no boundaries at all, which I thought represented the ultimate freedom. But it doesn't, because excess has to come in when there are no boundaries. It has to create some sort of disastrous situations,” Boyd told the AP. The AP reviewer also notes that in the book Clapton does not come off well—his drinking seems to take hold of them. In the interview Boyd refers to her and Clapton as ‘playmates” but that she and Harrison were “soul mates”. But unfortunately her soul mate cheated on her, leading to divorce. You have to give her a lot of credit for writing the book and being so honest. Healing takes time. It was time for her to tell the truth about her relationships. She tried the best she could to make things work. She even went to Alanon in order to understand and to move on with her life. Who wants to be married to men that cheat on you. I admire her.
