In Perry Moore’s new book, called Hero, the subject at hand is that of a gay teenage superhero named Thom Creed.
Moore himself is gay, and so he said in a New York Times article that calls the book an issue that is “close to the heart”.
The book, released on August 28 by Hyperion Teens, has already been selling, according to the numbers on Amazon. His mission with this book, Moore told The New York Times, was to “show gay superheroes in a positive light, to learn from his experiences with his father and to give younger readers a potential role model in Thom,” the reviewer states.
Later Moore goes on to mention that most comic superheros get killed off, and no one really cares.
Gay or not, as long as the story is good, that should be all that matters. For more details, visit the NYT article.
