Barnes & Noble has made lots of money from Harry Potter
By M&C News Aug 25, 2007, 10:56 GMT
The AP reports that with the release of J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, that the sales from that book alone helped to make their profits reach over 18 million dollars for the second quarter.
The article also reports that other books helped to contribute to the sales, but it was Rowling’s book that did most of the work.
The article mentioned books like The Reagan Diaries, as well as A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Al Gore’s book The Assault on Reason has also done well.
Publishers admit to liking celebrities and political figures for the subject of their work because the audience is already set and there is little marketing they need to do to generate sales.
