Fans angered by Harry Potter’s end, Amazon delivery
By M&C News Jul 22, 2007, 6:16 GMT

The final book in the Harry Potter series. ...more
Many Harry Potter fans are griping at Amazon for not having delivered their books on time. In just skimming through some of the reviews of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, many who ordered the book through Amazon have had their book shipped via UPS or USPS, and for many it has yet to arrive.
Fans have been arguing back and forth on the fan boards, many who are defending Amazon, saying it’s not Amazon’s fault once the book ends up in the hands of the mail carrier. Others have been tracking their books and are angry to find that their books have not yet been shipped.
One fan even contemplated buying an additional book from the grocery store, just so she could have it in hand, rather than wait for whenever the mail carrier would arrive.
Amazon reviews of book Seven have also been mixed. Many are disappointed with the ending, also complaining there are too many typos.
“Rowling has lost her mind,” one reader states. Many of the fans dislike the ‘romance’ in the book, calling it ‘forced’. Many are also complaining about the epilogue, saying it reads more like ‘fan fiction’ than fiction.
One fan even adds, “I guess I now know what has driven [Rowling] these last ten years to finish her series: money."
Fans are also saying the plot has way too many holes, and many who loved her first few books are feeling what one fan states, “I only hope future literary critics will rip this series to pieces.”
It should also be noted that not all were upset. Many fans got their books delivered on time and were quite pleased with Amazon, as well as Harry Potter's ending. Many believed book seven to be a great end to the series and have since been blogging about with their 'Potter Pals' online.

I ordered my copy from amazon.com and received it Saturday, as promised. As for the ending, I haven't gotten there yet; since this is the last of the series, I am taking my time and enjoying each chapter, and I think this book is the most powerful of the series. Rowling may not be a great writer (the bookstores are stuffed to the gills with books written far worse) but she has told a GREAT story and as a reader, that's what I look for. It will be a very long time before another tale captures the hearts and minds of so many readers around the world.
'Amazon reviews of book Seven have also been mixed. Many are disappointed with the ending, also complaining there are too many typos.'
'Mixed', you say?
I skimmed the reviews (which give ratings up to 5 stars and found that, out of 176 reviews posted, less than 10 ratings of 2 stars or less. The vast majority of reviewers gave the book 4 or 5 stars, with a much smaller amount of 3 star ratings. Reading most of the 3 star ratings, those reviewers liked the book...but not as much as previous books.
So again....'mixed'?
Clearly your definition of mixed is not in line with the majority of people.
At the time this article was posted, there were only around 50 reviews and of them about a third were negative.
The review is pretty much crap -- I got my book on time and I am extremly pleased with the outcome.
I'm glad that I got my book on time - or not? I would be one of the people who are utterly disappointed and loathe the book in whole. But then again Rowling predicted that. I would probably post a review on amazon but listing all the things I thought sucked and why is already four pages long and I'm not even halfway finshed ...
I was hooked on Harry Potter by my niece and nephew. We bought books 5-7 at our local Barnes and Noble. This time it was my sister and I who went, as the kids weren't around - niece off to Australia, and the nephew at a different party. I had fun, seeing old friends, met a new one - the social aspect is part of the fun for me. I got home at 1:30 AM and plunged in. Had some Saturday plans, so it took me until about 5:30 PM on Sunday to finish (an hour off the last one).
The book was as well written as any of Ms. Rowling's books. Not perfect, but a good story, decently constructed with a satisfying ending. The last few books could all have used an editorial kick in the pants, dragging at times, but she delivered what she promised, a classic hero's story. In book Five, she started Harry's Disillusionment, part of growing up. His heroes were not who they seem. In this book, we even find the 'good guys' using Unforgivable Curses, fighting fire with fire (Imperio and Cruciatus, never Avada Kevadra).
I'm sorry antiromance readers, but I think she handled the growing relationships between the players fairly well (also an expected part of growing up). Most of the characters were well-formed and three-dimensional. There were some simplistic bits (Percy doing a 180 after two books was hard to believe, but did give a unified Weasley family at last - unrealistic, but true). A fun, satisfying read. Now it's time to move on to something new - lets get on with our journey.
I was quite happy with the ending of the harry potter book 7 but was quite angry that she killed off characters like Dobby, Fred and Lupin! Am still crying about it! Also, I ordered my copy from amazon and I got it at 9am on saturday.

how biased is this report. please go to HP Lexicon Forum and other such serious sites, and you would know that the fan LOVE it.
Please keep in mind that this is a children's book. So the ending was only apt. The book is about hope and love, and ended that way.
For adults, yes, it seemed a bit wishy-washy, but we are not the primary audience are we?
