Or that’s at least what Jeremy Paxman is saying in his new book, On Royalty: A Very Polite Inquiry Into Some Strangely Related Families. Some have asked what it is the Royal Family does, and others have replied with, ‘nothing’. Paxman believes this old custom is nowadays is certainly involved with gossip and press, as well as other things. And well, like anyone, they're strange too.

In this book, he takes readers through the history: how they really became ‘royal’, how they birth, live, and die. Publisher’s Weekly is calling this a “spy close up on today's royals,” and then says, “Paxman proves a vastly knowledgeable and tartly entertaining guide to a magical realm that is stranger than fiction.” It is one of those things that many don’t seem to question. Why is there still royalty today, and who really benefits from it, save for the parties involved? In this book, Paxton attempts to answer those questions by providing the nitty-gritty face-on account, in detail. The Associated Press has quoted from his book, where he states, “"Many of the most stable societies in Europe are monarchies, while some of the most unstable and corrupt have presidents." Point taken. Published by PublicAffairs, the book finishes at 370 pages.
