First Edition Harry Potter book sold for $14,300
By M&C News Jun 23, 2007, 10:51 GMT
A long time ago, (ok not that long ago) the first edition of Harry Potter was published, and only resulted in 500 copies, most of which went to libraries and small bookstores.
According to the BBC News, Tony Rundle, a 19-year old university student sold his first edition book for 7,200 pounds or $14,300 US dollars. He said that his reasons were to help fund his tuition, which he believes will cut it in half. He is planning on studying Classical English at Oxford.
His mother sent him the first edition book back when he was at boarding school, as a gift. But now, the book’s new owner is a collector named David Beswick, told the BBC he was ‘happy with the price.’
The article also noted that the book sold for less than half of the anticipated amount, which was 15,000 pounds. Visit the BBC News for more information.
