Woody Allen, whose great film career spans across five decades, covering both comedy and drama, has a new book out, one that The New York Times calls “another Woody Allen instant classic.”
Mere Anarchy is a collection of essays as well as literary parodies, and fans feel that 25 years is too long to have waited for yet another humor collection.
Allen, whose classic films include Annie Hall, Manhattan, Stardust Memories, Interiors, Another Woman, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Hannah and Her Sisters, Radio Days, Husbands and Wives, among many others, is regarded as one of the best filmmakers of all time. His influences show the work of Ingmar Bergman and Federico Fellini. He has also noted having had the literary influences of Dostoevsky and Joyce.
His last two films, Match Point and Scoop, were filmed in England. Match Point was nominated for an Oscar and several Golden Globes. It was considered my many to be his artistic ‘come back’ after having produced several lesser films.
Published by Random House, the book finishes at 176 pages.
