"I'm a hyper-chondriac. My prescription? Whatever you've got. And quickly, please. I'm in a hurry." It is words as these that help set the tone for Brian Frazer’s memoir, Hyper-chondriac: One Man's Quest to Hurry Up and Calm Down.
Dealing with road rage? Do you believe there is a conspiracy in the world out to get you? Does everything make you sick? Instead of the self-help route, critics are raving about Frazer’s memoir, simply because it is “caustically funny.” Why is this the case? Well, he is a former stand up comedian. Perhaps you are thinking Woody Allen, who is known to create such vivid hypochondriacs in his films, albeit with humor.
Some of Frazer’s “relaxation techniques” include Zoloft, Reiki, yoga, meditation, anger management, New Age charlatans, puppies. Some of them work, some don’t. Some will just leave the reader laughing.
Finishing at 256 pages, the book is published by Atria.
