Paulo Coelho, the 59-year old Brazilian author of The Alchemist, is now releasing his new novel, called The Witch of Portobello that is about an illegitimate daughter of a Transylvanian Gypsy who tries to find purpose to her life by searching the world for it.
In his more popular USA novel, The Alchemist, the tale deals with a shepherd boy who travels to Europe in search for a treasure. Some facts regarding Coelho are that 92 million of his books have been sold in 150 countries as well as having been translated into 64 languages. The Times in London called him "the world's second-biggest-selling author after John Grisham," and The Alchemist’s ‘cult’ following has resulted in 35 million copies sold across the globe. It has also been made into a film.
Published by Harper Collins, the book finishes at 288 pages.
