Book Review: Unseen by Mari Jungstedt

By Angela Youngman Feb 27, 2007, 11:55 GMT

A young woman is discovered murdered on the holiday island of Gotland during a busy tourist season. Suspicion initially falls on her husband - until other deaths start occuring. The authorities are worried about what it will do to the tourist trade. Inspector Anders Knutas is instructed to find answers quickly.

What are the links between the various murders? It is only after a journalist starts digging that a horrific story of retribution is unearthed, going back to schooldays. Can the last victim be saved in time - and who is she? Quite a good story, well written and fast paced. It sets you thinking about the implications of thoughtless actions as a child and what the implications could be long term. Worth trying. This is a first novel by this Swedish author, and I look forward to seeing how her writing develops.
