Cool Father's Day gift: Rockabilly: The Twang Heard 然ound the World

Hip Daddies can rock it out for Father's Day with a great book: Rockabilly: The Twang Heard 然ound the World: The Illustrated History.

A colorful collection of great anecdotes and art, this new gift book is filled with all kinds of photos and images of movie posters, rare records and movie memorabilia from the early days of rock and roll.

Published by Voyager Press, this essential book of Rockabilly music. This new hardcover book entitled 迭ockabilly: The Twang Hear 然ound the World was released on May 15.

Full of terrific historical art and captured moments,  some of the most famous musicians of Rockabilly music are featured.

Rockabilly roots are uncovered, influencing icons like Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins, plus lesser known greats such as my personal favorite, Link Wray, plus Billy Riley, Sonny Burgess, and Wanda Jackson.

Wray, a North Carolina rockabilly guitarist whose raw sound and inventive techniques with his band the Ray Men lit the music world up in the late 1950's into the mid-60's.

His power chords and distinct distortion influenced the likes of Pete Townshend and others in mainstream rock. Wray even played with the rockabilly singer Robert Gordon in the 1970s.

The book also talks about the fashion of the movement, the clothing and guitars that were used to create the vibe with the music.

Rockabilly always skirted under the mainstream coverage in music, but it had a strong resurgence in the eighties with the Stray Cats and Link Wray's music being rediscovered.

In Rockabilly: The Twang Heard Round World (The Illustrated History) editor Michael Dregni expertly chronicles the genre with superb art and ephemera, plus close ups of the instruments the legends played.

The book features a forward by Sonny Burgess.

Today Rev. Horton and Heat, Mad Sin, Horror Pops, Nekromantix, Tiger Army
and Stompy Jones are a few of the bands representing Rockabilly today.

This is a must-have book and a GREAT gift for any cool daddy-o's out there. For more information on this release and other Voyageur Press products please visit voyageurpress.com. http://voyageurpress.com/
