Archaia Studios Press has announced that Mouse Guard creator David Petersen won the 2007 Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award presented this past Friday at the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards ceremony held at Comic-Con International: San Diego.
The first issue of Mouse Guard: Winter 1152 arrived in stores on Wed Aug 1st.
Petersen joins such past winners as Dave Stevens, Jan Duursema, Steve Rude, Scott McCloud, Art Adams, Eric Shanower, Dan Brereton, Jeff Smith, and Gene Ha.
“I am very proud and honored that the work I do on Mouse Guard received the attention for a Russ Manning award,” Petersen said. “The lists of those nominated and those who received the Russ Manning reads as a who’s who of the comics industry and I am so thankful to now be a part of that. The hardcover edition of Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 (ISBN 978-1-932386-57-8; $24.95; a 192-page, full-color, hardcover graphic novel, Ages 10+) collects the first 6-issue Mouse Guard series and includes 12 pages of bonus material.
