Moon Knight rises again and we have a six-page preview

By Patrick Luce Mar 9, 2006, 17:42 GMT

Mercenary.  Millionaire.  Avenger.  Marc Spector has been many things in his life, but after years away, he wants back in the super-hero game.  In Moon Knight #1, the Egyptian god Khonshu who originally turned Spector into Moon Knight may just grant his wish and Marvel granted ours by sending us a six-page preview of the upcoming comic.

A brand-new ongoing series, Moon Knight will return this April thanks to acclaimed novelist Charlie Huston (Caught Stealing, Six Bad Things) and super-star artist David Finch (New Avengers).  The first 6-issue arc entitled "The Bottom" will see the return of some old Marc Spector villains as well as some brand new threats.  We'll also see Moon Knight fighting his own mental instability.

"I've always been a huge fan of Doug Moench's original Moon Knight series. His dark themes tackled complicated issues and served up moral quandaries for the men and women in tights,” Huston said. “I don't think it can be done any better than it was by Moench, but I will certainly try to do Moon Knight justice. One thing I will promise fans...it will be dark!"

Marc Spector wants to feel cartilage and bone exploding beneath his fists.  He wants back in the game.  He wants the fun stuff.  In Moon Knight #1, the only question is...what is it going to cost him?

Moon Knight #1, (FEB062001), is written by Huston with pencils and cover by Finch. The comic arrives on April 5th with a retail price of $2.99.

Also available is the Essential Moon Knight Vol. 1 Trade Paperback, (DEC052083), which features stories by Doug Moench, Bill Mantlo, Steven Grant, and the comic icon Frank Miller. It has pencils by Don Perlin, Mike Zeck, Jim Mooney, Jim Craig, Pablo Marcus, Gene Colan, Keith Pollard, Bill Sienkiewicz, Herb Trimpe, and Mike Esposito. The trade comes with a cover by Sienkiewicz and retails for $16.99. Visit Marvel Comics for more information on this and other available titles.
