The man who can’t seem shake his “Mr. Star Wars” moniker, world-renowned comic book illustrator and creator, Dave Dorman, has decided to launch his own Webcast and Podcast.
The weekly show, Dave’s VLog Cabin, is a show-and-tell-meets-aintitcoolnews.com-meets-Wayne’s-World type of program, complete with low-level production values, plenty of insider information and surprise entertainment and comic book world celebrity guests.
He also is currently in negotiations with an XM Satellite radio program to carry the audio portion weekly. Three sites will Webcast the show: WednesdayIsComicBookDay.com, ItsComicsBookDay.com and DaveDormanWebTV.com. “Who better than an actual comic book creator to comment on comics?” Dorman asked, rhetorically in a press release. Dorman’s own sci-fi Western, action-adventure motorcycle comic book series, The Wasted Lands, is currently in the hands of a major L.A. talent agency and a major motion picture studio.
Dorman, world-renowned for his work on the Star Wars property, was voted the #1 Star Wars Artist of All Time, and his hard cover book, “Star Wars: The Art of Dave Dorman” was the top-selling art book for Ballantine in 1996. George Lucas, a fan of Dorman’s art, has purchased over 90 of Dorman’s original oil paintings, covering everything from Star Wars to Indiana Jones. Dorman is also an Eisner Award winner (the comic book world’s version of the Oscar Awards) equally renowned for his cover art for Heavy Metal magazine, Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. His G.I. Joe, Batman, Spiderman, Alien v. Predator and Magic: The Gathering card artwork have spawned additional fandom. Dorman will be appearing again at his “Six Guns: Slingin’ Lead” booth at Comic-Con in San Diego this coming July.
