Nextwave #1 Director's Cut on the way

By Patrick Luce Feb 5, 2006, 12:39 GMT

Nextwave #1 sold out at Diamond earlier this week and thanks to a groundswell of requests, Marvel is releasing a second printing of the madcap first issue with a few extras. Nextwave #1 Directors's Cut brings you behind the scenes of Stuart Immonen's art as well as bringing you farther into the mind of Warren Ellis than anyone should ever dare.

Just ask modest editor Nick Lowe how he thinks Nextwave #1 Director's Cut is shaping up. "Some say that I am a tad over-enthusiastic, but this is going to be, by far, the best Director's Cut EVER!" says the ever-exuberant Lowe. "Eat your heart out, Quesada! Enjoy the back seat, Whedon!  Warren's script is hilarious and Stuart's sketches are genius. And who hasn't been waiting for Warren's original pitch for the series? I know you have, anonymous reader!"

Nextwave #1 Director's Cut brings to you the genesis behind how Nextwave sprung from Warren Ellis's mind into your very hands, including Warren's pitch about the series (slightly censored) as well as his script for the first issue (even more than slightly censored).

Stuart Immonen offers a look behind the visual style of Nextwave with designs of the cast, sketch designs of the vehicles of Nextwave, as well as the cover sketch to the first issue. Ready for the best part? The Director's Cut is only $2.99, with all of this bonus content being offered at no extra cost with no ads!

In an effort to help out retailers who missed out on the first issue, the release date and FOC of Nextwave #2 is being pushed back a week to give retailers an extra week to place their orders. The extra week also gives Ellis and Immonen an extra week to get even further ahead as Ellis is currently finishing up his script for issue #9 and Immonen is closing in on the end of issue #4.

The creative team is working at a feverish pace eerily similar to the pace of an issue of Nextwave, pumping out future stories like "Good Cop, Giant Robot Cop" as fast as all-get-out to bring to you, you guessed it, more kicking and exploding! Fans be advised that there may be first issues still available at the retail level. Also, retailers should check their orders on issue #2.

Nextwave #1 Director’s Cut, (DEC058188), is written by Ellis with pencils and cover by Immonen. It will be available March 15 and retail for $2,99. Nextwave  #2, (DEC052025), is written by Ellis with pencils and cover by Immonen. It hits stands March 1st and retails for $2.99. Visit Marvel Comics for more information on this and other available titles.
