Books - Blue Ribbon Quilts

These 14 quilts are all award winners! They’ve taken the blue ribbon from large county fairs, small local quilt shows, and quilt challenges. And now quilters can recreate every one of these spectacular designs, thanks to the full-size patterns and instructions presented in this inspiring collection. Choose from classic as well as contemporary quilts: three use curve piecing while others feature traditional and fusible appliqué. An Oriental-themed design includes a variety of Japanese prints with blocks of machine-embroidered motifs. A wonderful rainbow Double Wedding Ring has foundation-pieced arcs. And because no quilt book would be complete without a Log Cabin quilt, there’s one here, too. Biographies of each of the quilters are included, along with the personal story behind each quilt’s creation.

I am surprised that Sterling could publish a quilt (the asian design) that has machine embroidered motifs, with out credits for the machine embrodery designer, what has happened to copyright laws? Maybe Linda Causee was in a hurry to publish, because the maker of this quilt was not credited either.

The Asian Quilt in the Blue Ribbon Quilts book was originally made to showcase Dalco Embroidery Designs and when it won a prize at a show, Dalco was not only advised, but elated. The embroidery designs were embroidered by Rosie using Dalco Embroidery Designs and it was never said that they were Rosie's Original designs. Once the blocks were embroidered, Mrs. Parks was asked to assemble the blocks, using our fabric, our template and was paid for her services. Rosie is the owner of the quilt and never has said that it was an original design. The quilt was submitted into Blue Ribbon Quilts becuase it has won a prize.

Since when is it perfectly fine to ignore copyright laws. The asian design quilt on the cover has embroidery blocks made using copyrighted product and yet there is not one word recognizing this copyright. The maker of the quilt was also eliminated when credit was given.
