A picture made available on 30 June of Hook the pangolin resting on a tree stump in the Singapore Zoo, 29 June 2008.
Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) and TRAFFIC Southeast Asia are jointly organising a three-day pangolin conservation workshop to be held at the Singapore Zoo starting 30 June 2008, to discuss the perilous situation facing pangolin populations in Asia, as its survival comes under increasing threat from illegal poaching.
Pangolins are being poached for their meat which is consumed as food and used for traditional medicines in the region. EPA/HOW HWEE YOUNG
