Most anyone caught with a bump or a line of Blow in our purses would be sitting in a cold jail cell picking the lint out of our navels.
Normal rules in life need not appply: US personality Paris Hilton EPA/SEBASTIAO MOREIRA
Not Paris Hilton. Rich people don't do time for minor drug busts, even cocaine. They hire the best defense attorney available, get bailed out and begin the "don't rush to judgment" campaign who craft clever legal briefs to keep their client out of real jail.
At the very least, they make deals to get the celebrity right into a fancy rehab, which costs a bloody fortune too.
Paris Hilton's Vegas nose candy arrest was her latest drug-related brush with the law this summer, which saw her flirting with marijuana all over South Africa and Europe.
Her latest lawyer is retained (paid up front) and is now ready to begin the spin:
"This matter will be dealt with in the courts, not in the media, and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law," says attorney David Chesnoff in a statement.
The 29-year-old hotel heiress was released without bail Saturday morning after she was arrested in Las Vegas for investigation of cocaine possession. The drug was allegedly found in her purse after a traffic stop made from suspicions of marijuana, which the police officer smelled coming out the window of the Escalade Paris and her latest pal were in.
For her mugshot, Paris played like this was the best thing of late for her floundering career as the "it" girl, long knocked off that pedestal by her once time friend, Kim Kardashian, and even to an extent by bigger drug/booze trainwreck Lindsay Lohan.
Paris struck a pouty pose, smiling for the police camera.
Hilton, who was famously hauled off to jail three years ago in Los Angeles in media frenzy for an alcohol-related driving case, is no longer on probation.
This summer, she was questioned by South African police at the FIFA World Cup for allegedly smoking marijuana and later held by police in Corsica after being allegedly caught with a small amount of pot in her purse. In both incidents, she was released without being charged.
