Rock/funk star Prince has always been a cryptic diminutive dude, giving away very little about his personal life or making splashy scenes anywhere. The Minneapolis funkster has been involved with many female musicians but few kiss and tell.
US singer Prince performs on stage in concert at the Roskilde Festival, Denmark, 04 July 2010. The festival, some 30 km west of Copenhagen, Denmark, which runs until 04 July 2010 is attended by some 75,000 rock fans. EPA/JENS
What we do know in part, thanks to old news items, is that his name is Prince Rogers Nelson; he is a vegan, and a prolific songwriter; he launched the careers of Sheila E., Carmen Electra and Vanity, and lost a son in infancy back in 1996.
Now we find out he is a devout Jehovah's Witness who occasionally knocks on doors to testify and refuses to make any comment on the late Michael Jackson.
The UK Mirror has an excellent interview with Prince that reveals the star will not be queuing for an iPad, Droid, Twittering, Facebook posting or even programming a DVR anytime soon:
Excerpt from Peter Willis' interview:
"Unlike most other rock stars, he has banned YouTube and iTunes from using any of his music and has even closed down his own official website.
He says: "The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it.
"The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good.
"They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."
