Once upon a time in celebrity DListed land, a young hotel heiress named Paris Hilton used to pal around with trust fund baby Kim Kardashian, who tagged along with Paris on personal appearances and sold her castoffs on ebay for a living.
Paris Hilton has been arrested in South Africa on a 'drug related charge'. Kardashian took a play out of her pal's porn tape playbook and after her scandalous Ray J. sex tape was acquired by Vivid, Kardashian lept into the forefront of the young hot celebrity pile while her friend Paris was thrown in jail and started free-falling from the Google indexes. Her reality TV shows started to fall by the wayside too.
Hilton was locked up three years ago after violating probation in an alcohol-related driving case.
Now, the Kardashian clan including Kim are outselling Hilton for traffic and reality TV show deals. Hilton is usually upstaged by Lindsay Lohan news too these days.
Now, Hilton has figured out a way to make a headline like the good old days.
Paris Hilton, 29, was questioned by police in South Africa for allegedly smoking marijuana at the World Cup.
According to CNN and many news reports at the scene, Hilton was detained outside the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, where she had been watching the World Cup quarterfinal match between Brazil and the Netherlands.
"The incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it," the Hilton spokesperson says. "The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made. The authorities have apologized for wrongfully accusing her since she had nothing to do with the incident."
The rep adds that Hilton is "having an incredible time at The World Cup and looks forward to going on a safari this week.”
