Washington D.C. is a stunningly beautiful city filled with breathtaking architecture, fabulous restaurants, endless museums and lovely neighborhoods, but it is not so lovely that you would want to stroll about at 1:00 AM.

Actor Kal Penn, who went to Washington in the Obama tidal wave of optimistic young minds eager to effect some Hope and Change, has made a decision to revisit his Kumar role in the lucrative franchise that stars Penn, Harold Lee and Neil Patrick Harris.
Unfortunately he was robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday in Washington, D.C. on 420 day, April 20, his character Kumar's special holiday that celebrates the smoking of marijuana, already practically legal in California.
An armed man forced Penn to the ground and stripped him of his personal items, including his cell phone and wallet.
As first reported by TMZ, Penn was walking in the city around 1:20 AM on Tuesday when an armed robber assaulted him.
Earlier this month, Penn announced he would be leaving his job as associate director of public engagement under President Barack Obama’s administration, and heading back to Hollywood to reprise his role as “Kumar” in the upcoming third installment in the “Harold & Kumar” stoner film franchise.
Penn, who operated under his real name Kalpen Modi in DC, shocked fans when he announced he'd leave his role on the hit series "House" to take a job with the Obama administration.
But after nine months after Penn joined the White House's Office of Public Engagement as an associate director, Hollywood reeled him back for the Kumar role.
Penn in past interviews said his Washington D.C. career would last a year or two.
During his time there, Penn reverted to his real name and kept a low profile and blending in with his peers.
