Lake Constance Largest Ship

Ship 'MS Sonnenkoenigin' (lit.: Summer Queen) is being christened with a bottle of champagne attached to a helicopter offshore Friedrichshafen, Germany, 18 September 2008. With a length of barely 70 meters 'Sonnenkoenigin', which is owned by a German enterpriser but cruises under the flag of Austria, is the largest ship to ever have sailed on Lake Constance. Upside-down House

A picture dated 01 August 2008 shows builders working on an upside-down house in Trassenheideon on the island of Usedom, Germany. A company from Poland want to complete the family house by the end of August.  All furniture is to be installed upside-down. The house will be used for exhibitions and the surrounding area should display other architectural oddities. About 400,000 Euros have been invested in the project 'Die Welt steht Kopf' (The World on its Head).  EPA/STEFAN SAUER

Ark Nebra

People are pictured at visitor centre 'Ark Nebra' in Wangen, Germany, 19 June 2008. The centre was built a year ago in close vicinity to the finding place of the Nebra sky disk. 120,000 people have so far visited the centre, which has become part of the tourism route 'Himmelswege'.

The imposing building offers a multi-media presentation and a planetarium show. 'Ark Nebra' was inspired by the stylised boat, also a motif on the Nebra sky disk.  EPA/Peter Endig
