Fan’s anticipated the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie from Warner Brothers will have to wait a little longer now. The studio has today announced that the Zack Snyder directed Batman vs Superman will now be released 10 months later than the original July 2015 release date. It’s new date is slated for May 6th, 2016.
The new release date will put Batman vs Superman up against a currently untitled Marvel Studios film. If this remains the case, then Superman and Batman won’t just be battling each other, but also a box office battle with a superhero from Marvel.
In a statement from Warner Brothers, it was said the delay would give “the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story. The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year.”
There was speculation around the internet that a leg injury to Ben Affleck (who plays Batman) could have been one of the reasons behind the movies lengthy delay. However this was denied according to sources on GossipCop.
Warner Brothers will not waste their original July 17th, 2015 release slot. The Joe Wright directed live action Peter Pan movie from the studio will now open on that date.
Batman vs Superman is directed by 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel director Zack Snyder. The film stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa.
In Superman vs Batman, Zack Snyder follows up his 2013 Superman hit “Man of Steel” with what promises to be one of the most iconic movie match ups in cinematic history. DC Comics two most famous superheroes, Batman and Superman, share the screen together and go toe to toe for the first time on the big screen.
Super vs Batman is released across the US from May 7th, 2016.
