The 1967 film starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda
New York: The Broadway revival of Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park will play The Cort Theater beginning previews on January 24, 2006 and officially opening on February 16th.
As expected, starring in the production will be Patrick Wilson as Paul Bratter, Amanda Peet as Corie Bratter, Jill Clayburgh as Corie’s mother, Ethel Banks, and Tony Roberts as neighbor Victor Velasco. Additional casting will be announced.
The creative team will include costume design by Isaac Mizrahi, set design by Derek McLane, and lighting design by Jason Lyons.
Barefoot in the Park according to notes is “the classic romantic comedy about conservative young lawyer Paul Bratter and his free-spirited newlywed bride Corie. The comedy follows the young couple as they move from the giddy joy of a honeymoon at The Plaza into the crazy reality of starting married life in a fifth-floor walkup in New York City.”
The play first premiered on Broadway in 1963 starring Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley, and was directed by Mike Nichols. It ran for four years and was nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Play, and won for Best Direction. A film version was produced in 1967 and starred Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.
