Axl too sick to perform, and Bach steps in to close the show

Fans were more than a bit upset when Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose took ill in the middle of a concert, and left it to former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach to close the show at London’s Wembley Arena.

After waiting until 10:30 p.m. for the gig to start, concert fans let the current version of Guns N’ Roses know how they felt about the situation with loud boos. The situation grew worse when Rose left the stage halfway through “Night Train” – the last song of the main set. Bach quickly took the stage to lead the band through an encore performance of the band’s classic hit “Paradise City,” but Rose remained missing in action.

Rose was reported to have been suffering from either “high-blood pressure” or “hypertension,” according to statements made by the band’s manager. The singer reportedly played an acoustic show at Koko in Camden, North London at 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Axl and Guns N’ Roses have run into some trouble on their European tour. The singer was arrested for an alleged drunken assault at a hotel in Sweden, and was forced to cancel a show in Newcastle, England after fans pelted the group with glasses. The fans were upset at how late the band was for taking the stage. The tardiness was reported to be the result of Rose refusal to start the show until he was provided with a roast lamb dinner.
