Author of Flashman Novels dies at 82

The NYT reports that George MacDonald Fraser, the author of the ‘Flashman Novels has died at the age of 82. The article reports that his death was due to cancer.

According to the NYT article, “Over nearly four decades, Mr. Fraser produced a dozen rollicking picaresques centering on Flashman. The novels purport to be installments in a multivolume “memoir,” known collectively as the Flashman Papers, in which the hero details his prodigious exploits in battle, with the bottle and in bed,” the article states.

A British writer, he also was one who had many fans—for if one does a search, there can be found a myriad of sites devoted to his work. The article reports that a non-Flashman novel called The Reavers is scheduled for release in April under Knopf.
