Ashley Tisdale looks to life after High School Musical

“High School Musical” star Ashley Tisdale has started making plans for life after the franchise with a new a first-look deal with “American Idol” producers FremantleMedia North America.

Variety reports the actress is currently in talks with United Artists for a starring role in the studio’s planned remake of the 1989 movie Teen Witch.

Tisdale’s one-year deal with FremantleMedia would see the production company developing projects (including roles on television) geared towards the young actress.

Although she is best known for her role as Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical franchise, Tisdale has seen past success with other television roles – including her performance as Maddie in Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”

Tisdale has also appeared in episodes of “Still Standing,” “Grounded for Life,” “The Hughleys” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.” Tisdale has also ventured into the music business with the 2007 release of her ‘Headstrong’ album, and had a role in the cult favorite feature film Donnie Darko.

In Teen Witch, Tisdale would take on the role of Louise Miller – an unpopular girl who discovers she’s a descendant of witches and possesses powers. The original film starred Robyn Lively.
