A spokesperson for the musical could not confirm the casting, but
O'Donnell's publicist confirmed to Out.com that the actress will join the
musical in the fall and stay until it closes on January 8th.
Fiddler will mark O'Donnell's third jump into Broadway. She made her debut as Rizzo in Grease! in 1994, starred in a limited engagement of Seussical , and served as producer for Taboo.
The production, directed by David Leveaux, opened on February 26, 2004 with Alfred Molina starring as Tevye and Randy Graff as Golde.
Attempting to live a normal life filled with Jewish traditions in early
twentieth century Russia, Tevye, a dairyman, is searching for appropriate husbands for his eldest daughters- Tzeitel, Hodel, and Chava. In a break of tradition, his daughters refuse to accept the wishes of the matchmaker, Yente, and their father. Instead, they marry the men they love. Meanwhile Russians are instigating terrible progroms against the Jewish people in Russia. In the end, the Jews of Anatevka are forced to leave their homes and Tevye is determined to start a better life in a new land.

I saw FODR more than 1 time and I was very excited because the musical is wonderful, fillfull of different meanings. A very 'evergreen' musical.
I loved it so much. I didn't see FOTR before and I was impredded by the story, the music, the songs, the dances and the ACTORS!
HF/Tevye is simply FAB. I saw him in Hairspray too, he is a god, but as Tevye he is UNFORGETTABLE. He is an enormous talented actor, his Tevye is so good, fun, nice, tragic, ...he can express every emotion and he is fun too.
Am as Goldie is wonderful too , all the cast is and PAS as Perchik is wonderful, nice, fun, great voice, wonderful presence on the stage.
The bottle dancers are fantastic and Mother too is very good to see. The same for all other members of the cast.
WHY Mr. FIERSTEIN DOESN'T PLAN TO DO A DVD ? His fab performance, his and all the cast, will be seen for a very long time and people who can't go in to see FOTR in Broadway can see the DVD.
Can you ask him this?
Thank you. Ciao.
