Pink Floyd's The Wall Coming To Broadway

By Luna Lovegood Aug 5, 2004, 16:56 GMT

Reuters' Ian Mohr is reporting that Roger Waters, who co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965, will write the book and arrange and orchestrate the music for the stage production.

Waters sold the stage rights to Miramax and Sony Music chief Tommy Mottola. The three groups are developing the musical.

The album includes such Pink Floyd hits as "Another Brick in the Wall," "Comfortably Numb" and "Hey You," "follows the journey of disillusioned rock star Pink, who looks back at the experiences that forged his neuroses."

In 1982 the album was adapted into a film released by MGM and starring Bob Geldof. Alan Parker directed and the film featured a script by Waters. An $8 million stage production was staged in 1990 in Berlin coinciding with the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Waters had this to say about the new production, "Now I can write in some laughs, notable by their absence in the movie."

The Wall will fit in well on Broadway with other productions that feature the music of hit artists including, Movin' Out, Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You.
