The prize is awarded to "a distinguished play by an American author, preferably original in its source and dealing with American life."
Doubt opened Off-Broadway on November 23rd and just recently on March 31st on Broadway, receiving glowing reviews each time.
In Doubt, a strong-minded woman is faced with a difficult decision: Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues...even if she's not entirely certain of the truth? Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, it makes for very potent theatre, to be sure.
