Gem Of The Ocean Closes Today

New YorkGem of the OceanThe show fought hard to make it to Broadway after losing most of its funding right before it was set to open. It eventually opened after a long delay on December 6th. Gem of the Ocean is the ninth play in August Wilson's 10-play cycle chronicling the African American experience through each decade in the 90s. In this one, Citizen Barlow, in spiritual turmoil, arrives at Aunt Ester’s house claiming sanctuary from Caesar, the local constable, he sets into motion a series of events, including a journey to the City of Bones, which leads to startling discoveries and sets him on a course where duty leads to redemption.For more information on Gem of the Ocean visit our database here.
