Little Mermaid The Musical

New York: Disney Theatrical's Thomas Schumacher confirmed that a director and scenic designer have been found for the long-awaited Little Mermaid musical. Francesca Zambello will direct and George Tsypin will design.
Altough he would not go into many details on the production, he did say a few things. "It's not an aquatic show. There won't be any swimming," said Schumacher. "We didn't have animals walking on all fours in The Lion King," he explained.
Schumacher said Disney Theatricals did not have a timetable for when the production would reach Broadway and that composer Alan Menken had written 10 songs for the Little Mermaid stage show. The movie score featured only five.
