London, UK: It was confirmed yesterday that Ewan McGregor will indeed be making his musical debut in the new UK production of Guys and Dolls. Howard Panter, co-producer commented about the production.

Panter said McGregor, "is a massive talent, and he sets the market." He also said, Megan Mullally had not yet signed to play Miss Adelaide, contrary to local press reports, but "she wants to do it," but the sticking point remains scheduling the show around her TV commitments.

Harry Connick, Jr. has been mentioned as a possible replacement for McGregor when he leaves after 29 weeks. Kevin Kline has been mentioned as a possible Nathan Detroit.

Michael Grandage will direct the production with Rob Ashford handling choreography, Christopher Oram and Howard Harrison will be designing.

The musical will begin rehersals April 4, 2005 and begin previews on May 23rd with an opening several weeks later.

Guys and Dolls is set in the world of gamblers. Desperate to find money to pay for his floating crap game, Nathan Detroit bets Sky Masterson a thousand dollars that Sky will not be able to take a local Salvation Army girl, Sarah Brown, to Cuba. While Sky eventually is able to convince Sarah to join him, Nathan battles with his fiancée of fourteen years, Adelaide. She wants to marry Nathan, but he always find some excuse to avoid the nuptuals.
