Billy Elliot Will Open In London In March 2005

Elton John revealed his new show, Billy Elliot - The Musical at a June 22nd news conference by singing 4 of the songs he composed for the musical. It was announced that the show will open at the Victoria Palace Theatre on March 11, 2005 after a stint in Newcastle in November of 2004.
The musical will be directed by Steven Daldry who also directed the film. The rest of the creative team will be lyricist Lee Hall, producers Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, choreographer Peter Darling, designer Ian MacNeil, musical supervision by Martin Koch and costumes by Sue Blane.
John admitted that he was moved by the film saying, "I was sobbing in my seat and had to be carted out by three people."
Except a casting announcement by September.
