“I’m With You,” Art Installation by Indie-Pop Band Grouplove’s Hannah Hooper - details

“We are excited to partner with Hannah to bring her first show to life. We have been fans of the band since they first supported our Cultivate Festival and wanted to help Hannah show her passion for art to a larger audience,” said Chris Arnold, communications director at Chipotle. “Hannah and Grouplove have really embraced our efforts to change the way people think about and eat fast food, and are supporting that through the sale of a limited edition poster commemorating the show, with proceeds to benefit the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.”

One to see while in Los Angeles: “I’m With You – The Artwork of Hannah Hooper from Grouplove,” a three-day art installation opening Tuesday, September 17  that features original paintings, album art, and other artwork by the indie-pop band’s frontwoman.

As part of the show, which coincides with the much-anticipated release of Grouplove’s second full-length album “Spreading Rumours” (available September 17 via Canvasback Music/Atlantic), Hooper has produced a special limited edition poster to benefit the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to creating a more sustainable and healthful food supply and to raising awareness concerning food issues.

From the press release

“We are excited to partner with Hannah to bring her first show to life. We have been fans of the band since they first supported our Cultivate Festival and wanted to help Hannah show her passion for art to a larger audience,” said Chris Arnold, communications director at Chipotle. “Hannah and Grouplove have really embraced our efforts to change the way people think about and eat fast food, and are supporting that through the sale of a limited edition poster commemorating the show, with proceeds to benefit the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.”

“We experienced firsthand how Chipotle is cultivating a better world when we played the Cultivate Festival in Denver in 2012. Through food, music and art, they’ve created an amazing experience that helps draw attention to important issues in food. Likewise, the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation is committed to raising awareness and much needed resources to support organizations creating a better food future. We’re honored to support their vision by bringing our music to Denver and our art to the ‘I’m With You’ exhibit,” said Hooper.

Prior to formation of the band, Grouplove singer/songwriter/keyboardist Hannah Hooper was already an established visual artist. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Parsons School of Design, Hooper cut her teeth in New York City’s Lower East Side art scene during the 2000’s, rubbing elbows with some of today’s most notable contemporary artists.  Her artwork deals with a diverse array of subject matter including tragic pop culture figures, claustrophobic beach/crowd scenes and strange figures distorted through bodies of water.  Hooper met her future band mates while attending an art residency in Greece.  As a member of Grouplove, Hannah has taken on the role of art director for the chart-topping band, and her work can be seen on their all of their visual material, including tour posters, merchandise, stage sets, and cover art, most notably for their breakthrough debut full length, “NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG” and forthcoming second album “SPREADING RUMOURS” (see attachments).

Grouplove recently unveiled details for “The Seesaw Tour,” a cross-country trek featuring two-night stands in eleven cities across the country – the first night will be electric; the second night will be stripped down/acoustic.  Performances will take place in intimate settings, including legendary clubs, historic sites, and obscure or rarely used venues.  The tour kicks off with shows at The Crocodile on September 9th and The Triple Door on September 10th in Seattle, WA, and continues into October.  Please visit www.grouplovemusic.com/tour for more details.

“Ways To Go,” the lead single from “SPREADING RUMOURS,” is currently Top 5 on the Alternative radio chart and enjoying major radio support from both KROQ and Alt 98.7 in Los Angeles.  The track’s companion music video – directed by Cameron Duddy – has received early adds at MTV2, mtvU, and Fuse, and accumulated over 1.5million views on YouTube (http://youtu.be/VGvHnDeS12o).  Grouplove will perform “Ways To Go” on the outdoor stage on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on September 19.     ******* ABOUT GROUPLOVE

Grouplove came together in 2009 and soon were hailed as a formidable live act, both as headliners and at such international festivals as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading + Leeds Festivals, and Glastonbury. Their first full length album “NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG” arrived in 2011, making a stellar chart debut among the top 5 on Billboard’s “Heatseekers” album chart for new and developing acts. Produced by the band’s own Ryan Rabin, the acclaimed album was highlighted by the debut single, “Colours” which received critical acclaim and climbed to the top reaches at Alternative radio outlets nationwide.

“Tongue Tied,” the second single from “NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG,” proved an even greater success, earning RIAA platinum certification for sales in excess of 1 million while spending 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Alternative airplay chart. By year’s end, the track had made history as Alternative radio’s second most-played song of 2012, following only Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know.”   The third single, “Itchin’ On A Photograph” also reached the Top 10 at Alternative radio.

Grouplove’s dynamic live sets continued to win over fans on a pair of headline tours, both of which saw sold out crowds at every stop, including a hometown finale at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.  That same undeniable energy was seen in an array of high profile television appearances, including CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman, NBC’s TODAY and Tonight Show with Jay Leno, TBS’ Conan, and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Grouplove is:  Christian Zucconi (vocals, guitar), Hannah Hooper (vocals, keys), Sean Gadd (bass, vocals), Andrew Wessen (guitar, vocals), Ryan Rabin (drums).
