Art Of The Industry opens in Las Vegas

PPEF is bringing this rare collection to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center during The PPAI Expo 2012. Open January 3-6, 2012, show attendees will have just four days to enjoy this exclusive exhibit, featuring Americana, wildlife, historical and nostalgic works, including the iconic Marilyn Monroe photo shoot on red velvet.
The Promotional Products Education Foundation (PPEF) is sharing one of the industry's best-kept secrets: rare works of art. The Art Of The Industry – An exhibit of fine art from a recently discovered collection of rare works created for the promotional products industry dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s will be on display in Las Vegas.
From the late 1800s to the early 1990s, original artwork was used for promotional products, including calendar production. These exclusive pieces, spanning five centuries of American and European art, now comprise one of the most eclectic, private art collections in the United States.

“The items that started as promotional products are still core products today, all these years later,” says Kippie Helzel, MAS, PPEF board member and Art of the Industry fundraising chair. “The art in the exhibit was purchased early in the 20th century for use primarily on calendars, which still sell in the millions today. You’ll see a wide variety of art in the exhibition because publishers were producing wide ranges of products—landscapes, Americana, religious imagery and the like. The collection has such a broad spectrum. It even includes Marilyn Monroe from before she hit the big time. They are the images and styles of our history. It’s very cool.”

The Art Of The Industry Exhibit being held in conjunction with The PPAI Expo*, the promotional products industry’s largest and longest running tradeshow, will benefit the Promotional Products Education Foundation (PPEF).
