Come visit Booth #2515 to learn more about the Rubin Museum of Art, our upcoming exhibit Hero Villain, Yeti: Tibet in Comics opening December 9th.

This new exhibit includes comics from all over the world that have featured Tibet as part of their fanciful narratives.

Take your picture with the Rubin Museum Yeti, find out more about special events at the Rubin Museum of Art, and enter a special drawing for two tickets to Dream Over on October 22nd. Participants will sleep at the Rubin Museum of Art under a piece of art chosen especially for them, and will have their dreams analyzed by Lama Lhanang Rinpoche and clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst Dr. William H. Braun.

The exhibition features more than 50 comic books from around the world providing audiences with unprecedented access to fantastic Tibetan adventure stories. Journey through Tibet with a diverse range of comic book characters on their quests, and trace the history of depictions of Tibet, both real and imagined while taking in the largest collection of comics related to Tibet ever assembled.

They include narratives ranging from classic superhero and villains, legendary creatures like the yeti and the abominable snowman, educational comics that provide lessons to students, biographies of holy figures such as the Dalai Lama, Buddha, and Milarepa, as well as comics that illuminate the social and political situation in Tibet. Titles from the United States, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, India and Japan will be on display in both the translated and original format - some of which have been translated into English for the first time.
