New York: The Broadway revival of Clifford Odets' The Country Girl will begin previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater on April 3, 2008 and will officially open on April 27th.
Headlining the play will be Frances McDormand, Morgan Freeman, and Peter Gallagher. Joining them will be Chip Zein, Remy Auberjonois, Anna Camp, and Lucas Caleb Rooney.
The creative team includes direction by Mike Nichols, set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Albert Wolsky, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners.
The Country Girl is a classic backstage story. The title character, Georgie, is married to actor Frank Elgin, once a great theatre star, now down on his luck. When Frank is offered a major role by hotshot director Bernie Dodd, he has the chance to make a major comeback.
