London : The Old Vic production of Cinderella plays its final performance today.
The cast includes Pauline Collins as The Fairy Godmother, Sandi Toksvig as The Narrator, Madeline Worrall as Cinderella, Paul Keating as Buttons, Joseph Millson as Prince Charming, Mark Lockyer as Ugly Sister, Hal Fowler as Ugly Sister, Debbie Chazen as The Wicked Stepmother, Oliver Chopping as Dandini, Penny Layden as The Queen, and Matthew White as The King.
The creative team includes direction by Fiona Laird, music by Anne Dudley, design by Stephen Brimson Lewis, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, and choreography by Francesca Jaynes. This new version of Cinderella has been written by Stephen Fry.
Cinderella is a tale of passion, jealousy, cross-dressing, injustice, chocolate, madness, cruelty, ice-cream, hatred, revenge, jelly, unrequited love, envy, tarts, forgiveness, music, laughter, hope, redemption and most importantly of all, love – the truest, purest love that ever was. And cake. So much cake you won’t believe.
