Mary Poppins closes today

London: The West End production of Mary Poppins plays its final performance today at the Prince Edward Theatre.

The cast at closing time includes Scarlett Strallen as Mary Poppins, Gavin Creel as Bert, Aden Gillett as George Banks, Rebecca Thornhill as Winifred Banks, Romy Baskerville as Bird Woman, Zee Asha as Mrs. Brill, Louise Gold as Miss Andrew, and Howard Jones as Robertson Ay. Mary Poppins opened at The Prince Edward Theater on December 12, 2004 to fantastic reviews. Directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne, the musical has a book by Julian Fellows, music by Robert and Richard Sherman with additional songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and choreography by Matthew Bourne and Stephen Mear.Based on the classic Disney film about the pratically perfect nanny who takes care of two children whose parents are occupied with other manners, Mary Poppins was nominated for nine 2005 Olivier Awards and took home two, one for original Mary, Laura Michelle Kelly and one for Best Choreography.
