The Little Mermaid postpones opening

New York: Due to the ongoing Local One stagehands strike, The Little Mermaid has postponed its opening night. The new musical based on the Disney film of the same name was set to open at the Lunt Fontanne Theater on December 6th. A new date has not been announced.
Starring in the production is Sierra Boggess as Ariel, Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Eddie Korbich as Scuttle, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Cody Hanford and J.J. Singleton as Flounder, and Sherie René Scott as Ursula.
The production features music written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman as well as 11 new songs written by Menken and Glenn Slater. The book has been written by Doug Wright.
The creative team includes choreography by Stephen Mear, set design by George Tsypin, costume design by Tatiana Noginova, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and direction by Francesco Zambello.
