New York: Initial casting has been announced for the upcoming Manhattan Theatre Club production of William Inge's Come Back, Little Sheba. Joining the previously announced S. Epatha Merkerson will be Kevin Anderson as Lola, Lyle Kanous as Postman, Zoe Kazan as Marie, Brian J. Smith as Turk, Brenda Wehle as Mrs. Coffman, and Matthew J. Williamson as Milkman.
Come Back, Little Sheba will begin previews at the Biltmore Theatre on January 3, 2008 and will officially open on January 24th.
The creative team includes scenic design by James Noone, costume design by Jennifer Von Mayrhauser, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Obadiah Eaves, original music by Peter Golub, fight direction by J. David Brimmer, and direction by Michael Pressman.
In the production, Lola is a faded beauty queen trapped in a lonely marriage to Doc, a recovering alcoholic on the brink of relapse. When a pretty young woman becomes a boarder in their cluttered Midwest home, their lives are unsettled as unspoken passions rise to the surface. As the emptiness of their marriage is laid bare, can they find their way back to each other or will they be undone?
