London : The Menier Chocolate Factory production of Little Shop of Horrors will move to a new home next month. The musical will play its final performance at the Duke of York's Theatre on June 23rd and begin performances at the Ambassadors Theatre on June 27th.
Little Shop of Horrors opened at the Duke of York's Theatre on March 12, 2007.
Starring in the musical is Sheridan Smith as Audrey, Paul Keating as Seymour, Barry James as Mr. Mushnik, Mike McShane as Audrey II, and Aistair McGowan as Orin Scrivello.
The musical, based on Roger Corman's 1960 film features music and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. The creative team features design by David Farley and direction by Matthew White.
Little Shop of Horrors concerns down and out Skid Row floral assistant Seymour who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore offering him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite… but as Audrey II’s hungry demands increase, all that Seymour holds dear is threatened as the plant’s sinister agenda for global domination is revealed.
