Las Vegas: Multiple Tony winner Jersey Boys has set it sights on Las Vegas. The musical will open at the new, still under construction, Palazzo Resort Hotel and Casino early next year.
Palazzo president Rob Goldstein in a statement, "With advance ticket sales over $30 million on Broadway, we are confident that visitors from all over the world will come to see what is currently the hottest ticket on Broadway. Jersey Boys appeals to a wide range of audiences, beyond the traditional theatergoer."
Broadway director Des McAnuff will team with the original creative team for the run in Vegas.
Jersey Boys opened at the August Wilson Theater on November 6, 2005, and took home 4 2006 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Featured Actor, and Best Lighting Design.
The musical ran at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2004 and was extended three times. Directed by Des McAnuff, Jersey Boys follows the story of the Four Seasons, and how four blue collar boys became the singing sensation behind such hits as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” Oh What A Night,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.”
The musical features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, music by Bob Gaudio, and lyrics by Bob Crewe. The creative team includes choreography by Sergio Trujillo, scenic design by Klara Zieglerova, costume design by Jess Goldstein, and lighting design by Howell Binkley.
