London : Oliver Tompsett and Andy Mace are set to join the London production of Wicked as Fiyero and Dr. Dillamond on July 16th. They will replace Adam Garcia and Martin Ball who will play their final performances on the 14th. Both Tompsett and Mace are members of the original production having understudied the roles they are assuming. Also on the 16th, as previously announced, Dianne Pilkington will replace Helen Dallimore as Glinda.
They will join a cast that will include Kerry Ellis as Elphaba, Nigel Planer as the Wizard, Susie Blake as Madame Morrible, Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose, and James Gillan as Boq.
Wicked opened at the Apollo Victoria Theatre on September 27, 2006 and tells the incredible untold story of the legendary Witches from L. Frank Baum's classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In the musical two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, feisty and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very, very popular. Wicked is the story of these two unlikely friends and how they end up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
Based on the novel Wicked by Gregory Maguire, the musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, and lighting by Kenneth Posner. Joe Mantello repeats his Broadway directing duties
