New York : Elle Woods attempts to take Broadway by storm as Legally Blonde opens today at the Palace Theater.
Starring as the bubbly law student is Laura Belle Bundy. Joining her are Christian Borle as Emmett, Orfeh as Paulette, Richard H. Blake as Warner, Kate Shindle as Vivienne, Nikki Snelson as Brooke, and Michael Rupert as Professor Callahan.
The ensemble features Annaleigh Ashford, April Berry, Paul Canaan, Lindsay Chambers, Beth Curry, Tracy Jai Edwards, Amber Efe, Gaelen Gilliland, Jason Gillman, Becky Gulsvig, Rod Harrelson, Manuel Herrera, Andy Karl, Nick Kenkel, Michelle Kittrell, Leslie Kritzer, Dequina Moore, Rusty Mowery, Kevin Pariseau, Matthew Risch, Jason Patrick Sands, Noah Weisberg, Kate Wetherhead and Donna Vivino.
The musical is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and MGM film of the same name. Jerry Mitchell makes his directorial debut with the production. He also serves as choreographer. Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe have written the music and lyrics, Heather Hach has written the book.
The creative team includes set design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by ACME Sound Partners.
In the musical, sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
