Clive Rowe steps in to Little Shop of Horrors role

London: Clive Rowe has stepped in the role of Audrey II in the West End production of Little Shop of Horrors. The actor will appear in the musical for two weeks through April 14th. Mike McShane, who normally provides the voice for the plant, will not appear due to a bereavement in his family.

Rowe was last seen in the West End in the National Theatre production of Caroline, or Change. Some of his other theatrical credits include Carousel, Guys and Dolls, Peter Pan, Chicago, Simply Heavenly, As You Like It, and Candide.Also starring in the revival is Sheridan Smith as Audrey, Paul Keating as Seymour, Barry James as Mr. Mushnik, and Alistair McGowan as Orin Scrivello.The musical, based on Roger Corman's 1960 film features music and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. The creative team features design by David Farley and direction by Matthew White.Little Shop of Horrors concerns down and out Skid Row floral assistant Seymour who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore offering him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite… but as Audrey II’s hungry demands increase, all that Seymour holds dear is threatened as the plant’s sinister agenda for global domination is revealed.For Little Shop of Horrors tickets visit our database here.

i went to see the show and i thoght that clive was amazing as the voice of audre 2 but i thought that the actor who played the dentist who also played trevor in eastendedrs was outstanding !!
