New York : The Public Theater's Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Mara Manus announce that The Public's sold out production of Shakespeare's King Lear directed by Tony Award-winning James Lapine and featuring Kevin Kline will extend for an additional week, with performances running through Sunday, March 25th. Tickets are now available for the week of March 20th.
In support of The Public Theater, there will be a benefit performance of King Lear on Tuesday, March 20th. The evening will also include a pre-show dinner with Oskar Eustis, Mara Manus and artistic guest John Guare, and a post-show cocktail reception with members of the cast and artistic team. Tickets for the benefit performance are as follows: $500 VIP includes the pre-performance dinner, prime theater seating for King Lear, followed by a cocktail reception (per person); $250 SPONSOR includes preferred theater seating for King Lear and cocktail reception (per person); and $100 CONTRIBUTOR includes theater seating for King Lear . In addition to Kevin Kline in the tile role, King Lear features Brian Avers, Larry Bryggman, Kristen Bush, Michael Cerveris, Philip Goodwin, Piter Marek, Laura Odeh, Daniel Pearce, Michael Rudko, Logan Marshall-Green, Ryan McCarthy, Angela Pierce, Timothy D. Stickney, and Joaquin Torres.
King Lear , which is now in previews will officially open on March 7th, and features scenic design by Heidi Ettinger, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting design by David Lander, sound design by Dan Moses Schreier and Philip Scott Peglow, music by Stephen Sondheim and Michael Starobin, music direction by Henry Aronson, and fight direction by Rick Sordelet.
There will be a limited number of $20 Rush Tix available at the box office for every downtown theater performance one hour prior to curtain. There is a 2 ticket limit per person, and the tickets must be paid for with cash.
